Annual Budget
2008-2009
Over the past years an emphasis has been directed at the replacement and upgrade of existing assets. Council can be extremely proud of what it has accomplished over the last five years, not only an increase in service provision but replenishment of many existing assets.
Major works for this year include an upgrade of the Derby Memorial Swimming Pool, completion of public ablutions at Lytton Park, replacement of playground equipment at Nicholson Square, major maintenance of the Derby Wharf Precinct and installation of checked baggage screening equipment at the Curtin Airport, including associated extensions to the airport terminal building.
The roads and street construction program including new footpaths and street lights are again an important focus for Council with the majority of funding coming from grants.
Council continues to attempt to provide good management, works, various services and to maximise the benefits to the local community as much and as soon as possible. The 2008/09 year will again be a challenging one for the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley with limited resources and an ever increasing request for Council’s services and support.
Please contact Shire staff or Councillors if you require further details in relation to the budget for 2008/09.
