Ian MumfordIan Mumford joined the Shire of Derby West Kimberley in September 2006. Ian has more than 20 years experience in community services planning in Australia and the United Kingdom and has been employed in a management capacity with a number of government agencies including Malvern Hills District Council (UK), City of Melville (WA) and City of Birmingham (UK).
Prior to joining the Shire, Ian operated as an independent consultant based in Bunbury, WA, specialising in regional and rural sport, recreation and community development projects.
Ian’s qualifications include an NVQ Level 5 in Management awarded by City and Guilds London Institute (UK).
Ian is available by appointment should you wish to discuss anything regarding the community development function of the Council including recreation facilities, child care, libraries, youth services and general community development projects within the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley.

Executive Manager Community Development Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and guidance to a multi-disciplinary team delivering best practice community services and development programs in the areas of :- Physical Activity and Recreation
- Children and Young People
- Community Safety and Crime Prevention
- Family Violence Prevention
- Arts and Cultural Development
- Civics, Volunteering and Community Support
- Community Events
- Community Grants Scheme
- Groups with special needs such as people with disabilities, women, seniors and Indigenous Australians
Specifically the Executive Manager Community Development is responsible for:
- Community Development Officer
- Scallywags Day Care Centre
- Derby Youth Centre
- Marooloo Youth Service
- Jayida Burru Abuse and Violence Prevention Forum
- Derby Public Library
- Derby Memorial Pool
- All other recreation and community facilities
