Derby Memorial Swimming Pool

Keeping Cool in the Pool

The Derby Memorial Swimming Pool is located on the corner of Johnston and Clarendon Streets, Derby. Construction was mainly by volunteer labour in the early stages and was dedicated to the service personnel from Derby who volunteered during the First and Second World Wars and some who ultimately gave their lives.

Renovated in late 2002, this attractively landscaped centre includes a 25 metre pool, separate toddlers wading pool, pergola, refreshment area and an extensive lawn area where children can play while mum and dad can set out a rug and take in the sun. You should also consider taking advantage of the wet season twilight hours to bring your family and friends down for a bbq. The use of the BBQs is free.

The pool and surrounds are available for hire at reasonable rates subject to prior approval of the Pool Manager. The conditions of hire are available from the pool.

The Derby Memorial Pool is a Royal Life Saving Society endorsed swim school and lessons are conducted in series throughout the year. These swim schools cater for newborns and toddlers through to adults.

Watch out for the Sharks!

The Derby Sharks Swimming Club caters for people young and old and is a great way in keeping fit & active and making new friends. Derby Sharks Swimming Club members are broken down into a variety of training groups, depending on age and ability, with each group training at least twice a week. Club nights and time trials are held once a month on a Monday afternoon. Club members are trained by various coaches and are then able to travel and compete at various Swimming Competitions throughout the Kimberley and state. For further information or to become a Derby Sharks Swimming Club Member you can contact the Club Secretary, Janny Lwoy on 9191 1664 or Staff at the pool on 9191 0910.
