Derby Recreation Centre
The Derby Recreation Centre is located at the southern end of Ashley Street. The Derby Recreation Centre was opened on Sunday 24th March 2002 by the Honourable Alan Carpenter, Minister for Education, Sport and Recreation, and Indigenous Affairs.
This magnificent facility was purpose built for the environment and lifestyle of the Kimberley region and incorporates two undercover multipurpose courts that can be used for basketball, netball, volleyball and tennis as well as the indoor Recreation Centre that includes squash courts, community room, storage cages, kitchen and office space.
The Derby Recreation Centre houses the Garnduwa office, they can be contacted on (08) 9193 2188. The Aquatic and Recreation Manager is also based there when not at the pool. Call (08) 9191 0999 or email arm@sdwk.wa.gov.au

Adjacent FacilitiesDerby Squash ClubTokens for casual use of squash courts can be purchased from Shire Administration (08) 9191 0999. Please consider becoming involved in the Derby Club!
Derby Bowling ClubThe Derby Bowling Club holds matches on Tuesday & Thursday nights at about 7.00pm and occasionally on Sunday at 4.00pm, the dress standard is ‘Kimberley Casual’.

Derby Tennis CourtThe Derby Tennis Courts consist of four hard courts which are lit for night games. Matches are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm. Competitions are also held occasionally. The cost is $3 a night. Casual players are welcome. For more details contact club president Peter Richardson (“Richo”) at Derby District High School on (08) 9191 1531.
The Boabs – Derby’s Golf CourseThe opening of the new grassed Derby Golf Course took place in 2004. The realization of this facility was a tripartite arrangement between the Water Authority, the Derby Golf Club and the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley. The dramatic Boab trees that line the fairways are an amazing sight and are challenging obstacles for the novice Kimberley golfer.
Saturday features an 18-hole Men’s and Ladies' challenge. Tee off Sunday afternoon features a social 9 hole ambrose event from 2pm.
Wednesdays is Men’s Scroungers, a social 9 hole event. Tee off is 2:40pm.
Fridays is Ladies Scroungers, another social 9 hole event. Tee off is from 3:30pm – 4:00pm.
Tuesday afternoons are for all those budding Tiger Woods out there. Contact the Golf Club for more information on (08) 9191 1126.
Causal use of The Boabs is encouraged. Bookings and equipment are available for hire from the Kimberley Entrance Caravan Park on (08) 9193 1055.

Derby Netball AssociationDerby Netball Association competes on Wednesday evenings from May through to September each year. Game times are 6.00pm and 7.20pm. There is a fee payable per team and per player. Fees are determined each season. Contact Jane Edwards on (08) 9191 1874 for current details. The Annual General Meeting is held in February of every year.
Derby Basketball AssociationAn annual basketball competition is held at the Recreation Centre courts during the dry season. It attracts men’s and women’s teams from throughout the district. Contact Sonny Ozies at Garnduwa on (08) 9193 2118 for more information about the competition.
