Litter Control
The dumping of rubbish on roadsides and public reserves is an effence and authorised officers can issue 'on the spot' fines or prosecute offenders. Penalties of up to $1000.00 can apply along with cleanup costs.
Care should be taken when transporting rubbish as it is an offence to drive a vehicle with an unsecured load or uncovered load which may fall from a vehicle. Penalties of up $1000 can apply.
Considerable resources are spent by Council on the control of litter and all residents are urged to utilise the public bins which are provided.
Street Bins
Street bins are located at various locations around Derby and Fitzroy Crossing; the majority are in or near public parks.
The collection by our staff of rubbish caused by littering costs Council approximately $110,000 per year. Please ensure you take time to use the bins provided.
