Council News - July 2006Resignation of Elected Member4th July 2006 Councillor Rodney (Rod) Giblett has formally resigned from his position on the Council of the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley effective 30th June, 2006.
Shire President Elsia Archer said that whilst she and fellow Councillors were sorry to lose his support, they did recognise his other heavy commitments. “Rod gives generously of his time to several community organisations throughout the year and at the same time operates a business which serves our community very well” she said.
Councillor Archer added that the public generally were not aware of how much time was required in being an elected member and it is a credit to Rod that he does not wish to remain on Council if he cannot dedicate the time that is needed to fill his role.
Rod was strongly elected at the Local Government elections in May, 2005 basing his campaign on the retention of essential services and encouragement of businesses and sporting groups and took up his duties with energy and enthusiasm.
