About the role:

The Shire of Derby/West Kimberley is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Mechanic to join our busy team on a permanent full time basis. 

  • Coordinate and undertake the Shire’s repair and maintenance program including:
    • Planning maintenance schedules
    • Sourcing and ordering parts
    • Inspecting and reporting
    • Service and maintain and repair the Shire’s fleet of vehicles, mobile and fixed plant (small and large) and all associated equipment in a safe and efficient manner incorporating environmentally sustainable work practices in both Derby and Fitzroy Crossing or where required within the Shire.
  • Deliver optimum services and results to a high standard to workshop programs, staff, the Shire and the community.

About You:

  • Excitement and passion about living in Derby and working with the West Kimberley community
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in service and maintenance of plant and equipment; including light vehicles; heavy plant such as tractors, loaders and trucks; small plant including ride on mowers, push mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws and blowers; fixed plant such as generators and water pumps; including petrol and diesel motors, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, electronic equipment, electric and electronic components and transmissions
  • Motor Mechanic Trade Certificate – Essential
  • Current motor vehicle licence with heavy vehicle endorsement
  • Appropriate licences to operate a loader, backhoe, small cranes and a forklift
  • Construction induction – White Card
  • Senior First Aid
  • Manual Handling
