Sharon Tassicker has been appointed as head judge of the Kimberley Art and Photographic Prize (KAPP), which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Sharon said she was looking forward to returning to the Kimberley again, particularly as head judge for the KAPP.

“It’s a wonderful part of the world and I have many memories of the Kimberley and its people from 1999 and 2008 in particular, and again briefly in 2018,” Sharon said.

“This year’s KAPP promises to be fabulous. It will be very special and most interesting for me to see the Charlie Numbulmoore works and the showcase of the art prize winners over the last 50 years. Not to mention seeing the entrants’ works!”

Sharon spent 12 years managing the Janet Holmes à Court's collection and exhibition programme, a position she held until January 2019, when she retired. Sharon is now working on visual art projects as an independent curator.

Jessica Bidewell, a local Derby artist, designer, illustrator and Art Lecturer for North Regional TAFE, Derby, has been appointed curator for the KAPP, a role she has previously enjoyed in 2018 and 2019.

KAPP Event Background:

  • The Shire of Derby West/Kimberley has facilitated the KAPP since its inception in 1970.

You are also welcome to cast your People's Choice vote either on opening night or throughout the exhibition.
