Jeff Gooding PSM, JP was appointed Commissioner of the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley (SDWK) effective, 18 April 2025 by the Minister of Local Government Hon. Hannah Beazley MLA [“Hon. Hannah Beazley MLA” hyperlinked: https://www.sdwk.wa.gov.au/news/media-release-appointment-of-commissioner-to-shire-of-derbywest-kimberley/414] . As Commissioner, Jeff fulfils the duties of the Council and ensure the continued proper functioning of local government until a democratically elected Council returns following elections scheduled for October 2025. Bringing a wealth of experience from a long Public Service career in the Kimberley, including his tenure as the long-term Chief Executive Office of the Kimberley Development Commission, Mr. Gooding also currently serves as a Director of the Wunan Foundation and a Trustee Director of Gumala Investments. A long-term resident of the Kimberley and a current Shire Councillor with the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley, Mr. Gooding is committed to acting in the best interests of the SDWK community, leveraging his extensive network and deep understanding of the region to prepare the Shire for its future.
