Notice of Proposed Road Closure and Dedication - Great Northern Highway, Fitzroy Crossing

Notice is given that the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley intends to consider a resolution to request the Minister for Lands, pursuant to section 58 of the Land Administration Act 1997, to close that portion of the Great Northern Highway road reserve shown dotted on Main Roads Western Australia drawing d2460-184, being part of Lot 68 on Deposited Plan 238022 (between SLK 2525.0 and SLK 2535.7), to facilitate the realignment and widening of Great Northern Highway. The Shire also intends to request the Minister dedicate the adjoining land shown shaded grey on drawing 2460-184 as road, pursuant to section 56 of the Act.

Copies of the relevant plans are available for inspection at the Shire's administration office, 30 Loch Street, Derby, and attached on this page. Submissions on the proposed closure may be lodged in writing with the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of Derby/West Kimberley, PO Box 94, Derby WA 6728, or by email to sdwk@sdwk.wa.gov.au, by no later than 09 October 2026.
