Shire of Derby/West Kimberley is proud to announce that Councillor Trish Gault has been awarded the prestigious Jacqui Dodd Scholarship, supporting her to undertake the Diploma of Local Government – Elected Member qualification through the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA) in 2026/27.

Cr Gault is one of two elected members from regional Western Australia to receive the scholarship this year.

Offered by WALGA Training since 2021, the scholarship honours the late Jacqui Dodd, a long-serving WALGA Training Services Manager and supports elected members to undertake the highest qualification available through WALGA Training.

The scholarship provides Cr Gault with the opportunity to further develop her knowledge and skills in local government while continuing in her role as a Councillor for the Shire.

Shire President Peter McCumstie said receiving the scholarship was a significant achievement for Cr Gault.

“We’re proud to see Cr Trish Gault recognised through the Jacqui Dodd Scholarship and excited to see her take this opportunity. The knowledge and experience she gains through the Diploma will contribute to the ongoing development of  good governance and informed decision-making at the Shire,” Mr McCumstie said.

The Shire congratulates Cr Gault on receiving the scholarship and looks forward to supporting her throughout her studies.
