NBN Fibre Upgrades in the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley

Works Update! Ventia, on behalf of NBN, is wrapping up upgrades to the fibre network in some selected parts of the Derby/West Kimberley area for future premises connections.

We’re sharing this information to keep you informed!

What’s Happening: nbn® is upgrading their Fibre to the Node (FTTN) networks to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) technology, also known as nbn® full fibre. FTTP offers faster and more reliable internet compared to FTTN as fibre optic cables will run directly to the premises, eliminating the use of copper wire.

Where: Within the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley boundary

What: Works include:

• Lifting pit lids

• Cleaning out pits and ducts

• Assessing cables and conduit capacity within the existing network • Rodding and roping of existing conduits

• Hauling of fibre cables
