⚠️ Rotavirus Gastro Outbreak in the Region – Important Health Message
HealthyWA has confirmed cases of Rotavirus gastroenteritis in:
  • Halls Creek
  • Most remote communities in the East Kimberley
  • Fitzroy Valley
  • And most recently, in Derby and Broome.
To help protect our community and stop the spread:
Wash your hands with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds – especially after:
  • Changing nappies
  • Using the toilet
  • Before preparing or eating food
  • Before making up baby formula
Disinfect surfaces regularly to kill the virus – especially in kitchens, bathrooms and shared spaces.
Keep sick children at home until at least 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea.
If someone is unwell, offer small sips of water, breastmilk or oral rehydration fluids frequently to help prevent dehydration.
